There aren’t many aspects of the construction industry that Dave hasn’t worked in. He qualified as an electrician after serving a civilian apprenticeship at Sydney’s Garden Island naval base, and honed his trade skills wiring warships before setting off around Asia and Europe to broaden his horizons. A two-year stint in London saw him designing the data refit of a major media company, before he returned to Sydney in 1994.
Dave’s career then took him in many directions: electrical salesman, estimator, project manager and even home automation product development. But Dave finally found his niche in trade drafting, and formed Drawable in 2007.
“I was a comms manager for an electrical contractor and needed shop drawings for a job, but couldn’t find anyone to do them for a decent price,” he recalls. “That’s when I realised there was a gap in the market – so I filled it!” Since then, Drawable’s reputation for high-quality drafting solutions has established it as an industry leader.
Dave’s wife Lorna occasionally manages to persuade him to take time off work to indulge their shared loves of travel, music and art.
With a maturity way beyond his years and a work ethic that’s second to none, Cam’s talent and dedication have been integral to the success of Drawable.
In 2009, an even more fresh-faced Cam joined Drawable as a trainee drafter and soon established himself as an AutoCAD guru. During his time with Drawable, Cam has devised solutions for some of the most difficult construction and electrical drawings in Australia – even top engineers engage Drawable because of the skill set Cam offers.
When he’s not working his magic on complex as builts, electrical schematics and BIMs, Cam spends his spare time tending to his semi-rural property with his lovely wife Liz, two dogs, one horse, nine hens and a rooster.
