House of Love
We contributed to the electrical design of this project

We work on all sorts of weird and wonderful projects at Drawable. One day we might be ploughing our way through thousands of as builts for a massive refit of Warragamba Dam, the next we might be drawing the power and lighting for the chimpanzee enclosure at Taronga Zoo. Late last year we finished the shop drawings for the spectacular Astral Tower at The Star casino development on Sydney’s Darling Harbour, plus all the mechanical drawings for the ABC headquarters in Ultimo.

All interesting stuff, but nothing warms the cockles of a drafter’s heart more than contributing to a project that’s making a difference to families doing it really tough. That’s why we were stoked to be part of the team behind the amazing new Ronald McDonald House (artist’s impression pictured) at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Ronald McDonald Houses are attached to major hospitals and provide a home away for home for seriously ill kids and their families – a vital service for Aussie families who live far from urban centres and have to travel sometimes vast distances for life-saving treatment.

The existing House at Westmead has been doing a top job since it opened in 1995, but it can only accommodate 109 people per night and many more places are needed. With the help of a $10 million cash injection from the NSW Government and the same amount raised in a mammoth charity telethon, construction is now well underway on a new 60-bedroom House on the Westmead site that will provide an additional 371 places to sleep per night for families dealing with serious illness.

Drawable is proud to have worked on the electrical design, plus lighting and security drafting, for this awesome construction that will also include a learning centre, family and volunteer kitchens, dining room, admin and conference facilities and a playground.

Electrical drawings never felt so good.
